Best-selling authors release new nature gift book set to share their most admired photographs
New books include Babies of the Wild, For the Love of Birds, and Loons in the Mist

New York Times best-selling authors Carl R. Sams II and Jean Stoick’s new gift book collection features some of their most treasured photographs. Follow their journey as the two wildlife photographers share their alluring images with you.

Sams and Stoick document some of nature’s most wondrous miracles in Babies of the Wild. The book features a captivating collection of photographs, the result of many hours spent watching swans on the nest, fawns taking first steps on wobbly legs and appreciating all the furry, fuzzy and feathery babies of the wild.

For the Love of Birds is a heart stopping collection of bird photographs by the husband-and-wife duo. “Carl will frequently stumble through the back door with muddy boots and frozen fingers to exclaim, “You won’t believe what I’m seeing! Get the Camera!” says Stoick.

In Loons in the Mist, join the authors on a photographic journal of five summers spent with the common loon. Be prepared to become totally captivated with the magical spirit of the northern lakes.

“These three beautiful gift books contain some of our favorite photographs. We want to share these and inspire others to enjoy nature,” Sams said.

Sams and Stoick self-published their first book, Stranger in the Woods, a #1 New York Times Bestseller and sold over 1.5 million copies. The couple has won more than 85 awards for their books and companion DVD movies.

The hardcover, 64-page gift books are available for $14.95 each at many area gift shops and bookstores, or by calling 1-800-552-1867. For more information visit www.strangerinthewoods.com or www.carlsams.com.

A Pirate's Quest: Latest book, video racking up awards for Sams clan

Philip Allmen, a staff writer for the Milford Times, wrote a nice article about the success of the books published by Carl R. Sams II Photography, Inc. particularly "A Pirate's Quest, the latest from the Milford company. The article is no longer online, but here are a couple of excerpts from it:

Regarding “A Pirate’s Quest,” written by Laura and Rob Sams (pictured on left):
The latest book also veers from the norm for Carl Sams. All three "In the Woods" books feature his wildlife photography. That wasn't quite feasible for "A Pirate's Quest" so the group tapped the talents of Heiner Hertling (right), a Milford artist to help in the project.
"We asked Heiner if he had ever painted any pirates, and he said 'No, but I'd like to try.' We read him a rough draft, he liked it and went to work," said Rob Sams.

Regarding all of the published books and movies:
All of the Samses are excited that all of their movies and books have been so popular. They credit the success to being able to connect with both children and adults.

"It's good for all ages," said Carl Sams. "We hit a nerve. With all the bad things on television for kids, taking them back to nature and hopefully help them getting to love nature and teach them gentle lessons of nature.

"It's good wholesome movies with a message. There's not enough of it out there."
